Charlotte Reed's Money Saving Pet Tips: Buying Books & Author Entertainment

Buying books can be expensive. When a new pet book title is released, the price can be quite costly. However, below you will find a few tips for meeting authors as entertaiment and for pet book bargain hunting.

1. Visit your favorite book stores as well as author and/or book websites to find out when authors are coming to your city. While readings at book stores and/or local library’s are FREE, author lectures at other venues cost nominal fees. Unless, you must have an autographed copy, buy or trade books at discount venues.

2. Check out pet books from your local library.

3. Purchase books from online book stores such as abebooks.com, betterworld.com or amazon.com.

4. Visit established, used book stores like New York City's Strand Bookstore.

5. Sign-up for a book store rewards card to receive discounts on future purchases.

6. If you buy books from flea markets, garage sales, be careful of Bed Bugs. Learn to kill Bed Bugs in books here.

7. Bookswap websites (Bookins.com, Paperbackswap.com, Bookmooch.com, and Bookcrossing.com) provide pet lovers with the opportunity to find pet books without paying for them. The only cost incurred is for postage.

8. At Book Expo of America (BEA), many publishers host author book signings to promote newly released pet books in their booths or arrange for author signings in the autograph area. Books are give away gratis to BEA attendees.

9. Consider buying remaindered books that have been returned to the publisher and are now being offered for a discount price. Hamiltonbooks.com is one site that specializes in remainedered books and has a good selection of animal and pet books.

10. Look for pet books at yearly book store sales.
